Why we fight

Hi, I am Nikki.

First, I am a survivor, not a victim. I am a dedicated mother and registered nurse. I started my career in healthcare in 2002 and worked in areas such as the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and pre/post-Cardiac Procedure. In 2019, I became a lone mother and widow.

I created The Voices Foundation in honor of my husband, Shane Jones. In November 2019, he was killed on his way home for our 2-year-old daughter's bedtime routine, which he did nightly with her. The person who killed Shane was an illegal alien who was drinking/driving and had a history of multiple high-risk traffic violations, including DUIs. No action was ever taken to remove him from our soil, even with his past high-risk traffic violations that ultimately led to the death of my husband, my children's father, and the destruction of my family.

Shane was a 20-year Air Force veteran (ret.). He retired 1 1/2 years before being killed and we just bought our forever home to raise our family. On November 2, 2019, our children not only lost their father, but they also lost their mother. I am in daily survival mode to ensure they have a home, that we aren't separated, and that I provide their daily basic needs. There aren’t any resources to help retain our home that Shane and I worked so hard for.

The loss of my husband, our daughters’ father, is just one of thousands of stories of how illegal immigration and the revolving door policies are failing American families. This destruction of the family units is 100% preventable if illegal immigration laws are enforced. I decided enough was enough, and it was time to take a stand to rebuild and stabilize the victims and immediate households so the children do not suffer the long-term consequences of these avoidable crimes.

I have publicly spoken throughout the State of Florida regarding illegal immigration crimes since 2022. I am here to advocate the other side of these crimes on behalf of the victims and families that are often silenced, bring awareness of the long-term, spiral effects of these crimes on the family units and the economy, and become a resource through The Voices Foundation that victims and their families do not have.

It is with great pleasure and gratitude to those who can support this vital mission in any way possible. Thank you.

Why we fight

Hi, I am Alyssa.

On June 5th, 2017, I was driving home from a shift at St. Joseph’s Hospital, like any other day. I was nine months pregnant with my first baby, due on June 21st. I got off the interstate and stopped at a red light. When my light turned green, I started to cross and was hit by an old school bus driven by an illegal immigrant transporting farm workers. The driver ran two red lights and hit me on the driver’s side, going an estimated 65mph. I was stuck in my car for over an hour as emergency response personnel attempted to extract me. I was flown to Tampa General Hospital, where medical professionals fought tirelessly to save my life. They are my heroes.

My daughter, Lena Noelle Copeland, had passed. I was taken to the operating room immediately, and when they delivered my daughter via C-section, I started bleeding out. I lost more than five times the amount of blood we carry in our bodies. My uterus began to die and was removed, leaving me unable ever to have another pregnancy. My spleen was removed, and my liver was repaired from a severe laceration. I was intubated and kept sedated in the cardiac ICU for four days. On the second day of my admission, I was taken back to the operating room for my abdomen to be closed and a cleanout of a degloving wound on my right knee. On the third day, I was taken for a cleanout and repair of a shattered left hip with 12 plates, pins, and screws placed. I was in the hospital for one month and wheelchair-bound for four months.

The man who hit me was driving here illegally, without a proper CDL, and had provided law enforcement with a false driver’s license. He was detained by ICE until law enforcement pressed charges a few days later. He sat in jail for about one year and was released after many attended court dates. I was out of work for five months following my accident, attending physical therapy and doctor’s appointments multiple times a week, fighting to walk and function again.

I went back to work and immersed myself in taking care of others. We attempted surrogacy five times with no success and a lot of financial burden. I will forever deal with the effects of that day in June. I am devoted to being a support, fighter, and advocate for other victims like me. Please support this vital mission in any way you can.

Thank you.

A Path of Destruction: Shane's Story

2013

An illegal alien was convicted of DUI and was released back on our soil and attended DUI school.

2017

The same illegal alien was charged with DUI again, it was dropped despite the breathalyzer evidence showed it to be higher than the legal limit. He was released back into the country.

2018

The same illegal alien crashed a vehicle and damaged property.  History repeated itself and for the third time, this illegal alien criminal was released.

2019

Finally, this illegal alien killed
Shane Jones in a vehicular crash. It was documented that the illegal alien was driving with open beer containers, he smelled of alcohol, and had blood-shot watery eyes.
